Bio
Inspired by early metalcore pioneers, including Unearth and August Burns Red, Copehill Down combine emotionally charged and profound lyricism with aggressive, energetic, groove-heavy riffs and technically intricate musicianship; forging a unique, genre defying style spanning metalcore, Djent, and classic metal.
Following the release of their first string of singles and gaining thousands of streams, a strong social media following and features in The Moshville Times, Rock ‘N’ Load, Breathing The Core and Vents Magazine, these determined new-comers from Newport, South Wales are preparing to dominate the underground UK metal scene.
Since forming in their current line-up during the height of the pandemic in 2020, and inspired by the tenacity of self-managed bands like Parkway Drive, the five members of Copehill Down follow a self-managed ‘DIY’ ethos; working together to record, mix and master their own songs, shoot and edit their own music videos, produce their own artwork and merch, hire venues and organise their own shows to support other up-and-coming metal bands around South Wales and Bristol.
With shows being scheduled across the UK next year, the band’s unrelenting focus is on their ‘stand-out’ live performances, unleashing raw energy and feeling, unrestrained by click tracks and pre-recorded samples.
Named after an abandoned military training village, Copehill Down symbolises an emptiness that ties into the band’s lyrical musings of social collapse and spiritual depravation. A theme that runs through their debut EP ‘The Design, The Disaster’, released in April 2023.
